Denny combines his experience in healthcare finance with his knowledge and background in economics to help families prepare for the unexpected and create a clear path to financial independence.
Denny has spent most of his career helping Fortune 500 healthcare companies adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment - he pioneered population health at Davita Inc. and created a new financial model to adapt to the Affordable Care Act. In the private equity space, he restructured a privately held behavioral health company, negotiating payer contracts and vendor agreements to get the company back to profitability and positioned for sale. Denny managed operations for one of the largest and most complicated regions in Southern California for Optum Health, consisting of 9 multispecialty medical groups with 60,000 lives and 100+ physicians and specialists.
Denny’s approach to financial investing is very similar to his approach in healthcare; there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy. Each person has different needs and goals, and they must be cognizant of how everything they do affects their overall health, whether it be financial or medical. Good, healthy habits should start young but it’s almost never too late to start. Time is an invaluable commodity, and it affects the decisions people make as well as the likelihood of success.
In addition to his experience in corporate finance, Denny also teaches healthcare finance in the Master of Health Administration program at USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy; ranked second in the nation. But Denny’s favorite job bar none is being a Dad to three amazing kids – Kailyn 23 (recent USC graduate), Dylan 14 and Kayla 13.
Denny has an MBA from Pepperdine’s Graziadio School of Business with an emphasis in economics and a B.A. in digital media from Otis College of Art and Design. This rare ability to work both sides of his brain has allowed him great success in global business development and interpersonal communication. Denny has the sound ability to translate complex ideas and concepts into meaningful, relatable information.
You can't change the world for everyone, but everyone can change someone's world. ~ Leyna Nguyen Denny and his wife have a charity organization called Leyna Nguyen’s Love Across the Ocean that is dedicated to helping the less fortunate around the world. Whether it's flood victims in Texas in need of food and clothing, veterans in California in need of a place to stay, or children in Vietnam in need of an education, Denny feels that it is important to make an impact no matter how small. While the intent is to make the world a better place, it's also completely selfish because this kind of giving back feeds the soul. Denny likes getting involved personally, especially in times of immediate need, like after a natural disaster because the pay-off is instant. It's humbling to see how simple things like a bottle of water, socks or a blanket can be so comforting to someone.
